TSOGO Ancestor statue 20th century. Height: 42 cm. An IR spectroscopy dating certificate (G. Matthaes patent) from the Museo d’Arte e Scienza, Milan, no. 6AF-3639, indicates the date 1930 ± 10 years. Heavy wood. The back is solid and prominent. The mouth is triangular in shape. Traces of wire brushing on certain parts of the body indicate that the statuette has been ‘cleaned’ (most likely to remove the white kaolin patina and desecrate the statuette).
