Description
KWÈLÉ Pipibudzé mask. 20th century. Height: 29 cm. An IR spectroscopy dating certificate (G. Matthaes patent) from the Museo d’Arte e Scienza, Milan, no. 6AF-3738, indicates the date 1943 ± 8 years. Light wood. Dark patina around the edges. Kaolin patina on the inside of the heart-shaped face. The outer outline of the face forms a heart shape that is less pronounced than that on the inside. The nose features a row of six holes. The mouth is sketched in the form of a flattened crescent at the bottom of the face. Provenance: Pierre Redouin Collection.
