Description
FANG Ngil Nzaman mask. From Lalara, near Mitzic (Gabon). 20th century. Height: 55 cm. An IR spectroscopy dating certificate (G. Matthaes patent) from the Museo d’Arte e Scienza, Milan, no. 6AF-3749, indicates the date 1942 ± 8 years. Light to medium-weight wood covered with traces of white kaolin. The eyes are represented by a short horizontal line. The mouth is carved as a horizontal line at the bottom of the face, thereby reducing the space left for the chin. Provenance: Pierre Redouin Collection.
