Description:
This type of statue was used by soothsayers to diagnose illnesses or protect against epidemics. They were also used in agricultural rituals to call for rain or ensure good harvests. They could also be used as witnesses during trials or to seal peace agreements between villages.
Generally speaking, these statues embody the spirit of an ancestor and serve as a bridge between the world of the living and that of the spirits.
