JUNKUR? Female fetish 20th century. Height: 55 cm. Light wood, with a dark, crusty patina over the entire body, traces of red pigment on the left half of the abdomen, and a white coating on either side of the face. Provenance: Pierre Redouin Collection. Description: This female statuette is likely a fertility fetish: she holds two enormous breasts in her hands, whilst her prominently sculpted belly suggests pregnancy. A large cavity in the back was used to hold magical offerings. Two braids of beard hang from the chin. The wood is old and the statuette appears fragile.
