Description
LIP Gold, calibre 20.3, late 1920s 18K (750/1000) yellow gold bracelet watch with fixed attachments, grey dial with applied gold numerals, seconds at 6 o'clock, mechanical Lip calibre 20.3 movement, numbered grooved back, inside engraved Lip 20 3, green lizard strap (to be reattached to the attachments), plated pin buckle. Case 30.7 x 22 mm Gross weight with bracelet 17 g PB. case with glass without movement or bracelet: 7.9 g Eagle head hallmarks (Dial with patina, scratches and knocks to the glass, seems to work, to be revised) Developed in 1899 by the Manufacture Lip and the first calibre entirely designed at 14 Grande Rue in Besançon, the calibre 20.3, with a diameter of 20 mm, was designed to equip wristwatches of small dimensions (watches with a diameter of 30 mm). Originally, the dials featured two hands for the hours and minutes, before the movement was enhanced in 1901 with a seconds counter at 6 o'clock. Lip's calibre 20.3 has been certified as a Chronometer by the Observatoire Chronométrique de Besançon - the official body recognised internationally for its precision measurements in watchmaking - since 1899!
