Developed in 1899 by the Manufacture Lip and the first calibre entirely designed at 14 Grande Rue in Besançon, the calibre 20.3, with a diameter of 20 mm, was intended to equip wristwatches of small dimensions (watches with a diameter of 30 mm). Originally, the dials featured two hands for the hours and minutes, before the movement was enhanced in 1901 with a seconds counter at 6 o'clock.
Lip's calibre 20.3 has been certified as a Chronometer by the Observatoire Chronométrique de Besançon - the official body recognised internationally for its precision measurements in watchmaking - since 1899!
