Note :
Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887) was one of the most prominent sculptors of the Second Empire, renowned for his eclectic style combining realism, Baroque elegance and mythological or allegorical themes. Prolific, he produced numerous busts, statuettes and monumental decors, notably working on the Opéra Garnier and the Manufacture de Sèvres. Highly appreciated by the bourgeoisie and the aristocracy, he ran a vast workshop where Auguste Rodin passed through, and embodied refined decorative sculpture, the hinge between tradition and modernity in the XIXᵉ century.
