Note :
Henry Lerolle (1848-1929) was a French naturalist painter, close to Impressionist circles, known for his intimate, rural scenes. He studied at the Beaux-Arts and produced decorations for public institutions such as the Sorbonne and Paris City Hall. He was also a patron of the arts, a collector and an amateur musician, very much involved in the artistic circles of his time. His Paris salon brought together painters, musicians (such as Debussy) and writers. Today, his works can be found in prestigious museums, including the Musée d'Orsay and the Met in New York.
