Musketeer helmet of the 1st company, known as the "Grey Musketeers", model 1814.
Ball and visor in silver-plated copper
(minor dents, replated).
Crest with flanks decorated with flaming thunderbolts, enhanced with thunderbolts, to the front of an exploding grenade stamped with the corps motto "QUO RUIT ET LETHUX" ("Where it falls [allusion to the grenade depicted], so does death"), surmounted by three fleurs-de-lis, and enhanced at the base with a frieze of gilt brass heart stripes.
Round plate with musketeer cross, blackened interior, surrounded by branches of oak and laurel leaves, bosses with exploding pomegranate, scale chinstraps lined with black velvet (grated) and pencil holder decorated with gilt brass fleur-de-lys friezes. Marmoset covered in horsehair.
Mane trimmed with interlacing trimmings and black horsehair puff with gilded brass socket decorated with water leaves.
Chinstrap fastening cord in gilded thread trimming (reinforced).
Inner headpiece in black leather and silk, not attached.
Visor lined with green leather and black leather peak.
