MURAT (JOACHIM).
Set of 2 pieces.
- Signed "J Napoleon" as King of Naples, countersigned by General Francesco PIGNATELLI, Prince of Strongoli, as Minister Secretary of State, and by Francesco MACDONALD as Minister of War and the Navy. Naples, 30 September 1814. Patent of lieutenant standard-bearer granted to Louis Sellès (or Selliès), lieutenant in the 2nd regiment of foot Velites, veteran of the French armies since 1794, transferred to the army of Naples in 1806: he took part in the siege of Gaète, and in the campaigns of Calabria (one p. printed folio with handwritten additions, on parchment, large copper-engraved header with Joachim Murat's coat of arms, armorial wax seal under Joachim Murat's paper).
- Apostille signed with his initials (s.l., December 1814, one word) on a document addressed to him, in Italian, signed by the Minister of War and the Navy Francesco MACDONALD (Naples, 8 December 1814, one p. 1/2 in-folio). Francesco Macdonald requests that the Minister of the Interior repair the road from Fort Sant'Elmo near Naples, to the place known as Cacciotoli on the Vomero hill, through which artillery, war material, supplies and troops pass.
Joachim Murat wrote in Italian: "Approvato. JM".
Francesco Macdonald would marry Caroline Bonaparte morganatically in 1817.
