Description
BONAPARTE (CAROLINE). Autograph Apostille signed "Caroline", in French (s.l., 1815, 3 words) on a report signed by Francesco MACDONALD addressed to the King of Naples Joachim Murat, in Italian (Naples, 27 April 1815, one p. 1/2 in-folio). At the suggestion of Major Sirignano, commander of the corps of Hussars of the Internal Security Guard, Francesco Macdonald made two proposals to Joachim Murat, one that a paymaster, a brigadier-trompette, a veterinary surgeon and four workers be assigned to this corps, the other that Captain Accadia, in this same corps, be given the duties of captain of clothing. It was the Queen of Naples, Caroline Bonaparte, who, in her own handwriting, replied: "Referred to the King...". Joachim Murat was away from Naples at the time, fighting at the head of his army against the Austrians in northern Italy. Francesco Macdonald, who would raise new troops to support Murat and fight the Austrians himself, would then marry Caroline Bonaparte morganatically in 1817. Joint: portrait engraved on copper by François-Séraphin Delpech after Séphirin Belliard (framed under glass).
