CHARLET (NICOLAS-TOUSSAINT).
Lithographic album. Paris, Gihaut frères, 1834. Oblong folio bound on the long side, half red long-grained morocco, smooth spine decorated with long title, top cover preserved (binding circa 1920).
Collection of lithographs: cover and 18 plates, representing often humorous genre scenes illustrating military life under the First Empire.
The son of a dragoon in the armies of the Republic, Nicolas-Toussaint Charlet (1792-1845) studied in the studio of the painter Antoine-Jean Gros and made a name for himself as a draughtsman of military compositions, particularly those inspired by the Napoleonic era.
