Le Vieux cordelier, political journal, written in year II. Paris, Baudouin frères, 1825. In-8, (4 of which the last is blank)-394 pp. half brown threadbare basane with brown title page; binding a little worn, some foxing, marginal ink stain on first few leaves (contemporary binding).
FIRST COLLECTIVE EDITION OF THIS MYTHICAL PERIODICAL BY THE GREAT REVOLUTIONARY LIBELLIST AND ADVERTISER, originally published in 1793-1794.

- VILATE (Joachim). Causes secrètes de la journée du 9 au 10 thermidor an II (pp. 171-351). New edition of these REFLEXIONS SUR LA CHUTE DE ROBESPIERRE, originally published in 1795, written by a former juror at the tribunal révolutionnaire while waiting in prison to be guillotined. Also includes the interrogation of Catherine Théot, who called herself "Mother of God".
- MEDA (Charles-André Merda, known as). Précis historique inédit des événemens de la soirée du 9 thermidor an II (pp. 353-394). Published the same year as the original, by the same publisher. The future colonel Méda, who died in the Russian campaign in 1812, relates the ARRESTATION OF ROBESPIERRE IN WHICH HE TAKEN PART AS A GENDARME - he is said to have been one of the first to fire on ROBESPIERRE, shattering his jaw.
