Description
Red morocco gusseted portfolio from Antoine DUBOIS, Empress MARIE-LOUISE's obstetrician. Ornamented with a small iron in gold on the cover with the "Grandes Armes Impériales", the "N" under the crown and the date "1811". Trimmed inside with green morocco, with 12 compartments marked with the months of the year on mitre (partly missing). Flask lock with two silver-plated metal attachment points. 29.5 x 16.5 cm. Good condition (wear to spine). Provenance : - Valérie MASUYER, lady-in-waiting to Queen Hortense. - According to the archives of the Napoleonic Museum in Monaco, this portfolio was Antoine Dubois, the Emperor's physician and the Empress's midwife. the Empress. Exhibition: Exhibited in 1965 in the Salle d'Honneur of the Hôtel National des Invalides as part of an exhibition by the Association pour l'Encouragement des Etudes Napoléoniennes.
