Ledoux-Lebard, Napoleon: contemporary portraits, bustes et statues, Paris, 1999, p. 95-101, n°66 and 74 Historical background: This rare bust depicts the Emperor with the Iron Crown of to commemorate his coronation in the cathedral of Milan in the cathedral of Milan in the manner of the emperors of the Holy Roman Roman Empire. Initially attributed by Ledoux-Lebard to the sculptor Lorenzo Bartolini, it is now clear that this bronze is related to the busts by Giovanni Comolli in Milan.
