Beautiful and important column that supported one of the cradles and the cradle curtain for the KING OF ROME, then the PRINCE IMPERIAL at the Château de Saint Cloud. A green lacquered wood spindle column on a gilded base, decorated with a frieze of hearts, resting on a wide tripod base in green lacquered wood and gilded frieze, adorned with three gilded winged claw feet (three wings missing). It is surmounted by a Corinthian capital in carved gilded wood, decorated with acanthus leaves, supporting a beautifully carved eagle with spread wings in gilded wood. On the column, two large hanging irons and a note written in pen (partly missing): "Column, surmounted by an eagle which supported the curtain of the cradle of the King of Rome.
