Description
Dutch light cavalry officer's sabre. Gilt and chased bronze mounting. Handle with ivory plates (cracked and notched), adorned with six horn horn buttons. Pommel with a reclining lion. Single-branch hilt engraved with lozenges and, in the centre, a four-pointed cross cross in the centre. Superb curved blade with flat back, counter-edge and double and double gutter, worked with day patterns in suite, blued and gilded, Damascus style throughout. Brass scabbard with two suspension bracelets, with repoussé decoration of flowers and foliage, with two brass rings. Iron sting. Good condition. Consulat-Ier Empire period.
