Description
NAPOLEON I Letter patent of Baron of the Empire. Seal with large imperial arms in red wax with yellow silk ribbon, captioned on the obverse: "NAPOLEON EMPEROR OF THE FRENCH" and on the reverse: "NAPOLEON EMPEROR OF THE FRENCH KING OF ITALY PROTECTOR OF THE RHINE CONFEDERATION". Accompanied by his baron d'Empire diploma on vellum bearing the words: "Napoleon by the Grace of God / Emperor of the French, King of Italy, / Protector of the Confederation of the Rhine, / Mediator of the Swiss Confederation there all present and to come Salvation", and inscribed in pen on the reverse: "Transcrit sur le registre du Sénat / Le quatorze [...] mil huit cent dix / Le Chancelier du Sénat". Presented in its metal case. BRENET Nicolas-Guy-Antoine (Paris, 1773 - Paris, 1846), engraver. E.M. (The diploma has been deliberately anonymised by cutting out the name part.
