Description
A lady’s ‘donkey-back’ desk in satinwood and amaranth veneer. It opens to reveal a drawer and a flap inlaid with flowering branches and foliage in violet end-grain wood. The interior contains four drawers and a sliding shelf concealing a compartment. The curved side panels rest on arched, tapered legs. Chiselled and gilded bronze fittings: lock plates and inlaid footplates.
Paris. Louis XV period.
Attributed to Pierre IV Migeon (1696–1758). Registered as a master craftsman around 1725.
