Description
A cylindrical case with a wooden core, covered in chagrin leather, chiselled and gilded with fine metalwork depicting the archiepiscopal coat of arms in silver, with a chevron of azure, accompanied in the chief by two boar’s heads of sinople and in the base by a pointer’s head of the same colour, all in natural colours; crest featuring a mitre, crozier and hat from which hang four rows of tassels, rosettes and richly ornamented friezes; hinge, hooks and lock plate in cut brass; interior lined with silk. 18th century L_53.3 cm (Minor blemishes and wear) The coat of arms on this travel case is that of Bishop Guillaume de Boux (1621–1693), and it still contains its original cushion.
