Bertelli – ‘Grand Parfum’ – (c. 1910 – Italy) A very rare decanter-shaped bottle in pressed, moulded colourless crystal with a rectangular cross-section; its cubic body is fitted with an openwork brass mount depicting an incense burner on one side, two winged caryatids on two sides, an ornate coat of arms serving as a labelled tag, adorned with two Greco-Roman friezes; a fluted neck ringed with brass and decorated with winged horses, topped with a faceted ball stopper; presented in its poplar box lined with velvet (signs of wear), with a red satin interior, embellished with stamped brass spandrels depicting four winged caryatids (some parts missing), bearing a dedication in Portuguese: “Para a adorable Zely para o dia de seu casamento, perteneceu a saudosa mama’ (For the adorable Zely on her wedding day.
