Dressers "à la du Cerceau" refer to models inspired by the drawings of Jacques Androuet du Cerceau, famous for his architectural compendia in the XVIᵉ century. These pieces of furniture feature a richly architectural structure, with columns, pediments and niches reminiscent of the facades of ancient buildings. They are highly decorative, combining sculpture, symmetry and motifs inspired by the Italian Renaissance. In this way, the sideboard becomes not just a utilitarian piece of furniture, but a genuine work of art designed to display the prestige and erudite taste of its owner.
