Alessandro VAROTARI (1588-1649), known as Il Padovanino, attributed to The Oracle of Love after Titian Oil on canvas. H_113 cm W_97.5 cm Accents, restorations, oxidized varnish. Our painting is based on a composition in a different format by Alessandro by Alessandro Varatori in the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, which is itself largely inspired by a composition by Titian. This work is known from the engraving by by Jacob Matham after Titian, circa 1599/1603, in the Rijksmuseum RP-P-OB 27.211. Alessandro Varotari was a Venetian Baroque painter. The works of the first early part of his career are often copies after Titian, while his mature works while his mature works bear witness to a profound influence from the great Venetian painter.
