Albert-Ernest CARRIER-BELLEUSE (1824-1887) The Neapolitan dancers Two large groups in patinated bronze Signed on the base and numbered 737 and 736 Colin founder's mark Height: 105 and 99 cm (wear to the patina) Carrier-Belleuse was one of the most productive artists of his century and enjoyed his greatest success during the Second Empire, benefiting in particular from the direct support of Napoleon III. His work was strongly influenced by the Italian Renaissance and the eighteenth century, whose aesthetic he helped to revive.
