This terracotta sketch is part of the genesis of Aimé Jules Dalou's model entitled Nymphe
et Faune ou le Baiser. This small studio study shows certain variations from the more dynamic fnalised
more dynamic and in which the constraint of the embrace appears more clearly.
This subject, which is very attractive to sculpture enthusiasts, was published posthumously under contract
between the famous publisher Hébrard and the Dalou heirs on 31 December 1902. Our sketch
comes from the Becker collection. Auguste Becker, Dalou's practitioner and friend, was commissioned
the artist's executors to carve the marbles and supervise the posthumous editions of the bronzes.
