Description
STEINER France, 19th century. Mechanical doll (Steiner patent, late 19th century) with a pressed biscuit head, open mouth and fixed blue eyes, marked ‘A 15’ in relief and stamped (Steiner Bté SGDG A 15). It is mounted (or has been remounted?) on its body with a spring-driven mechanism, wound by a side key to drive the legs, and a bellows-operated vocal mechanism (which works but is silent; the bellows are porous or punctured)
Please note – The head is in good condition with no cracks, though there are very minor losses of paint at the top of the forehead.
Damage and losses to the fingers;
clothing, shoes and wigs have been restored.
