R. LALIQUE, France. Ceiling light, ‘Madagascar’ bowl, a design created on 14 December 1928 in moulded and pressed opalescent white glass, featuring twelve monkey heads. Diameter: 30 cm. Featured in the 1932 catalogue, removed from the catalogue in 1937 and not reprinted after 1947. Bibliography: ‘R. Lalique, catalogue raisonné de l’œuvre de verre’ by Félix Marcilhac. Éditions de l’amateur. Paris 2011. An identical model is reproduced on page 678 under No. 2481. (In good overall condition, with minor scratches and soiling; includes a suspension chain and an opalescent glass socket cover.)
