IMPORTANT, ANTIQUE, FINE AND ORIGINAL KIRMAN RAVER CARPET (Persia, late 19th century)
Ivory field featuring a very large central midnight-blue medallion decorated with a mosaic of stylised flowers and foliage, inlaid with a large central sky-blue rosette (natural wool variation), adorned with polychrome palmette and floral bulb motifs in the form of stylised diamonds.
Four spandrels with motifs echoing the central medallion.
Five borders, the main one being midnight blue with an interlaced pattern of undulating bands featuring stylised foliage in the shape of serpentines and stylised waves, surrounded by stylised, burst diamond-shaped flower buds.
Wool velour on a cotton backing, of fine quality and remarkable polychromy.
Density: approximately 7,000 knots per dm².
