Description
A chiselled and gilded bronze portico clock featuring griffins surmounted by a palm frond. It stands on a black marble quadrangular plinth adorned with porcelain bisque fleurons (numerous chips, wear to the gilding, restorations).
The circular dial is enamelled white with Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numerals for the quarter-hours and a railway-track minute scale (chips).
Two winding squares.
Attached mechanical movement with key winding, gong chime (one key and one pendulum).
Partly from the Directoire period, 19th century.
Under a glass bell jar with an oval black-stained wooden base.
