A small cabinet in blackened wood veneer with ‘Boulle’ marquetry in brass and tortoiseshell; the interior is in mahogany (with veneer inlays).
The lower section features a table that opens via a waist-high drawer to reveal a writing surface upholstered in blue leather; the upper section, in the shape of a gendarme’s cap, opens via two doors surmounting two drawers.
It stands on four curved legs with chiselled and gilded bronze ornamentation; the uprights are decorated with busts of women wearing helmets.
