CAUCASUS.
An original and very old Talich carpet.
Wool pile on a wool backing (showing natural oxidation and wear, with some restoration work, and finished edges and fringes).
Field featuring diagonal bands and stripes inlaid with rows of stylised, polychrome botehs.
Four borders, the main one being ivory in colour and studded with medallions of geometrically stylised, multicoloured floral bulbs.
Circa 1870.
