JODIN, Jean. ‘Rest Escapements Compared with Recoil Escapements, with a treatise on a watch of new design, &c., followed by some reflections on the present state of watchmaking, on the guild of master watchmakers of Paris, and on the nature of their statutes’, 1754. Large 12mo, gilt-embossed tortoiseshell-patterned calf, ribbed spine, endpapers replaced, p. [vi] + 194 with one folding plate (of three). First edition, rare. An important work for its observations on the structure of the watchmaking trade in Paris at the time. A second edition was published in 1766.
