A Treatise on Clockmaking containing everything necessary for a thorough understanding of and for setting clocks and watches, a description of the most useful clockmaking components, repeaters, equation mechanisms, single-wheel clocks, etc., 1775. In-4°, half calf with vellum corners, paper covers, gilt-ribbed spine, title label in red morocco, p. xxviii + 308 + xxxv, with 17 folded plates. The title page is MISSING; it has been replaced by a handwritten substitute, though the title has been reduced to ‘Complete Treatise on Horology [motto] In Paris, at J. C. Chardon Fils, Bookseller. A.D. 1755’; otherwise a fine copy despite some foxing within the wide margins.
