Description

TABLE CLOCK hexagonal, with passing-hour chime, repeater, date display and alarm, signed (on the rear plate) ‘Johann Wuffke Inn Breslau’, c. 1650. Ring-shaped silver dial engraved with Roman numerals for the hours, divided into 15-minute intervals, with star-shaped markers for the half-hours. This dial is set against a gilded metal background engraved with foliage, Arabic numerals for the date ring, a gilded and engraved alarm setting dial in the centre, and blued steel hands (replaced). Gilded brass movement, baluster pillars, verge escapement, ring-shaped balance wheel without a balance spring, fusée with chain, large openwork cock engraved with strawberry flowers, finely engraved alarm barrel, gong strike, pull-out repeater with a locking hole at 9 o’clock. Glass-fronted case resting on six silver feet. Folding carrying handle with openwork and engraved hinges.
