Description
Iron clock movement, French, possibly from Normandy, late 17th/early 18th century, with alterations.
Four-pillar cage, with turned candlesticks and pear-shaped feet, riveted onto four longer pillars to accommodate larger wheels fitted to extend the clock’s running time and, perhaps, to accommodate a larger dial. Movement comprising two gear trains with a horizontal verge escapement and balance wheel (probably a later addition), a single hand.
32 x 16 x 12.4 cm.
