Description
PORCH CLOCK in white and grey marble, striking on the hour and half-hour, signed ‘Lanier Fils à Paris’, third quarter of the 18th century.
White enamel dial (damage and restoration at 12 o’clock), Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numerals for the minutes, openwork and engraved hands in gilded brass.
Round movement, anchor escapement, single balance wheel with sunburst lens, spring suspension with adjustment, external counting wheel, chime striking a gong; the cylinder housing the movement is decorated with foliage and surmounted by an urn, above a portico with four cylindrical columns of veined grey marble on a white marble plinth with applied capitals and gilded brass feet, gilded brass doves kissing on a white marble base in the centre.
