Description
Flying pendulum mantel clock, marked (on the dial) ‘Jerome & C°. Pat[ent]ed 9 October 1883. West Germany’; (back) ‘HOROLOVAR The Horolovar Co Bronxville – New York. Made in Germany’ with the number 23169 and a glued-on label ‘Horolovar Warranty No. 23169’. 1950s.
Rectangular case in black-stained wood, four paw-shaped feet, brass handles and fittings. White paper dial with Roman numerals, steel hands. Inside, a simple mechanism features a central spindle that rotates an arm – fitted with a thread – alternately to the right and left; this thread winds round two auxiliary rods, thereby reversing the movement.
