Combined dial and compass in the form of a pocket watch, unsigned, French, second quarter of the 19th century. Eight-point compass with a 360° circumferential scale; needle locking lever on the case. A horizontal ‘Butterfield’-type dial for latitudes 35, 45 and 50 is affixed to the compass glass. Compass and dial in silver-plated metal. The whole is housed in a cylindrical white metal case.
