Description
PLANETARY manual by Devon Clocks, in collaboration with Paul Kellar, based on the work of James Ferguson (1710–76), late 20th century. A dodecagonal oak case, each side featuring an oval medallion engraved with the name, a pictorial representation and the symbol of one of the signs of the zodiac, housing the gear system controlling the planetary display mounted above and encircled by a zodiacal calendar. The planetary model shows the planets Mercury, Venus, Earth with the Moon, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn orbiting the Sun. The gear mechanism combines various elements devised by Ferguson between 1755 and 1762. To be revised. Diameter 26 cm; total height 29 cm.
