Description
Small octagonal silver watch case, late 16th/early 17th century. The case has two lids, one engraved with a depiction of Hercules fighting the Nemean lion, the other with a battle scene. The images on both sides are surrounded by panels depicting various scenes. The engravings are worn. The interior of the case is gilded, the lids adorned with mandorlas; the engraved silver body. 5.5 x 3 cm. We are including a dial-less pocket watch movement with a verge escapement from the late 18th century, signed ‘Mallet Paris No. 18684’. Diameter 2.5 cm Expert: Anthony TURNER
