Watch with a so-called ‘onion’ crown in gilded brass, signed ‘Frizon A Paris’.
First quarter of the 18th century.
White enamel dial, Roman numerals for the hours on raised dots, Arabic numerals for the minutes, one iron hand. Gilded brass movement with a solid large bridge, engraved in relief with a symmetrical design of birds and foliage, featuring a window revealing a false balance, Egyptian pillars, verge escapement, fusee with chain, and adjustment via pinion and rack.
Gilded brass case entirely engraved with symmetrical foliage around a head on the back, in the antique style. Diameter 5.8 cm.
The work is either by Antoine Frizon, who was admitted as a master in 1703 and was still active in 1748, or by Jacques Frizon, who had a son, Jean-Pierre, baptised in 1712.
