Triple-cased silver staff watch, signed (movement) ‘Tarts London 27274’, c. 1770.
White enamel dial, the centre painted with a scene of bird hunting, Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numerals for the minutes separated by arches, brass hands.
Gilded brass movement, silver regulator disc, openworked and engraved bridge, verge escapement, square pillars.
Silver case, double repoussé case, possibly depicting Daniel explaining the writing on the wall (Daniel 5); triple silver case covered with horn studded with silver nails. Diameter 5.6 cm.
A fake watch imitating London-made timepieces of the period, bearing a fictitious signature. However, the second case contains an embroidered watch cushion, clearly of the period.
