Signed silver double-cased verge watch (movement), ‘Jn° Akced London 4077’, c. 1787.
White enamel dial, Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numerals for the minutes, gold hands.
Gilded brass movement, silver regulator disc, openwork and engraved cock, verge escapement, pillars, case bearing the London hallmarks for 1787/88, and a plain double silver case, with the paper of D. M. Forlane & Son, Glasgow.
Diameter 5.2 cm.
John Decka was an apprentice to William Addis in 1749. He became a master watchmaker on 4 July 1757. He took on Samuel Marsh as an apprentice in October 1771. It is not known why he decided to inscribe his name on the reverse.
