A rod-style watch with a calendar, signed on the dial ‘A Willeumier à Tramelan’, mid-18th century. Gilded and engraved brass dial, date at 12 o’clock, hours and minutes at 6 o’clock, two silver plates engraved with flowers and foliage at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock. Fully engraved gilded brass movement, bridge very finely open-worked and engraved, the adjustment scale engraved on the mainplate, verge escapement, architectural pillars. Silver case (rear), fluted middle, glass-covered back to reveal the bridge and balance wheel. Diameter 5.6 cm. A watch somewhat atypical of Swiss production of the period, possibly made by Abram Willeumier before he joined forces with his brother Moïse to establish the largest watchmaking firm in Tramelan during the third quarter of the 18th century.
