Anchor-escape watch featuring a portrait of a sailor, marked ‘Longines’, circa 1890. White enamel dial, heavy Roman numerals, seconds at 6 o’clock with Arabic numerals, blued steel hands. Three-quarter plate movement similar to calibre 18 49N, lever escapement, compensated balance, ruby jewels, pendant winding. Steel case no. 641013, polished case band; the case back features a medallion portrait signed ‘FS’ depicting a bearded sailor smoking a pipe, accompanied by emblems – a ship’s wheel, an anchor and sails.
