Description
Antoine VOLLON (1833-1900), attributed to. Suite of four enamelled cast-iron dryer vats representing the different stages in the manufacture of silk. These decorations are inspired by illustrations taken from a notebook of the Cantonese artist Yeouqua, brought back by Sidore Hedde (1801-1880) after an observation mission in China in 1843. Size 70x48 cm each. Oxidation and enamel chips. The Musée des Tissus et des Arts Décoratifs has deposited twenty-four enamelled plates with the Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois in Lyon.
