- Paul MARIÉTON (Lyon 1862–1911), writer in the Provençal language, member of the Félibrige.
A collection of 6 autograph letters and 4 autograph visiting cards, all signed and addressed to his friend Mr Vierge, circa 1900. The letters comprise 16 folios in-8.
"I cannot tell you, my dear friend, how deeply your last two articles have moved me. More than once I have suffered from having taken this mask as my true nature… Yet the two adjectives you mention are both integral parts of my Lugdunian being. - A Rhône temperament, a Saône soul (if I may say so!) – a complex individual, like all Lyonnais-".."

A collection of eight signed autograph letters addressed to Auguste Dumont, editor of the newspaper *L’Estafette*, concerning their views, various articles written in the year 1855, and various matters.
“For the past two months, I have severed all ties of collaboration with *Le Siècle*. Contrary to established practice in such circumstances, the editor-in-chief of that newspaper has refused to inform readers of my departure… since you have been kind enough to offer me a place at *L’Estafette*, my time is at your disposal”.
“I am enclosing the letter, which I would ask you to publish on the day before or the day of the publication of my first variety piece. Above this letter, if you so wish, you may include this simple note: ‘We are pleased to announce to our readers that Mr Eugène Pelletan will henceforth be contributing two variety articles a week to *L’Estafette*’. No flattery, I beg you, no self-promotion. I believe that men like you and us must do things simply and with integrity.”
“It seems that Mr Havin [political director and editor-in-chief of the national daily *Le Siècle*] is back on the offensive. I truly admire him. He refuses to carry any advertisements in his paper and wants to force us to carry his prose; nevertheless, you were right to include the closing lines of his letter – you’ve caught him in a trap.”
The collection comprises 12 pages in-8; there is a small tear on one page near the signature, caused by the wax seal.

Two signed autograph letters, dated 29 December 1927 and 20 October 1930, the latter on letter paper bearing his monogram, concerning the engraver Porret, one of the pioneers of the Romantic vignette in France.
