Description
Eugène DELACROIX (Charenton-Saint-Maurice 1798–1863), painter. A signed autograph letter addressed to his pupil and collaborator Pierre Andrieu, who produced copies of the master’s works, dated 20 April, referring to canvases that Pierre Andrieu had sketched and which he required. “My dear Andrieu, please do me the favour of sending me the four canvases you have sketched (the subjects of the four seasons) along with the sketches. Before I go to the countryside, I would like to produce a series of works from life. Please also give me the address of the bird-seller who modelled for us at St-Sulpice. Yours sincerely, E. Delacroix”. Letter addressed to “Monsieur Andrieu, Painter, 54 Rue de Seine”. One in-8 page on vellum, in brown ink, with traces of creases, a minor tear, and marginal water stains.
