Edmond ROSTAND (Marseille 1868–1918), writer, playwright, poet and essayist.
A signed autograph letter addressed to a ‘dear colleague’, written from the Villa Arnaga in Cambo-les-Bains, in which he refers to a matter involving Sarah Bernhardt and her theatre. In 1898, she took over the management of the Théâtre des Nations by signing a 25-year lease with the City of Paris, the owner of the premises, which she subsequently renamed after herself.

Are you sure she wishes for this municipalisation of her theatre, which you so generously desire for her glory and the interests of poetry?
